ICC prosecutor Karim Khan seeks arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas leaders

The International Criminal Court (ICC)'s prosecutor, Karim Khan, has announced his intention to seek arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Khan said that there are reasonable grounds to believe that both leaders bear criminal responsibility for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The decision to pursue arrest warrants for these high-profile figures comes as the ICC prosecutor seeks to bring justice to victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Khan acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead but expressed his commitment to holding those responsible accountable. Netanyahu, who has served as Israel's prime minister for over a decade, is accused of orchestrating war crimes during Israel's military operations in Gaza, particularly during the 2014 conflict. The ICC prosecutor believes that Netanyahu and other Israeli officials authorized airstrikes and indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas, resulting in numerous casualties. The alleged war crimes include the targeting of residential buildings, schools, and hospitals. Netanyahu has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has criticized the ICC's jurisdiction over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On the other hand, leaders of Hamas, the militant group that governs the Gaza strip, also face potential arrest warrants. Hamas is accused of launching rocket attacks targeting Israeli civilians, thereby violating international humanitarian law. The ICC prosecutor alleges that Hamas leaders authorized and facilitated these attacks, thereby committing war crimes. Hamas leaders have also denied any wrongdoing and maintain that their actions were in response to the Israeli occupation and blockade of Gaza. The ICC's decision to pursue arrest warrants
