Slovakia PM Fico Survives Assassination Attempt, Deputy Remains in Serious Condition Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is no longer in danger after an assassination attempt, according to his deputy, Robert Kalinak. However, Kalinak's condition remains serious and requires intensive care. The incident occurred on October 5, 2021, when an unknown assailant opened fire on Fico's car as it was entering a government building in the capital city of Bratislava.
