Brian Kelly can’t catch a break on and off the field.
On Tuesday, Brian Kelly held a press conference following LSU’s season-opening loss to Florida State.
It all started when he called out reporters for walking into his presser late and stated the reporter owed him $10 and that he would hold a party at the end of the year with the money he collects.
Instead of laughing it off, the reporter fired back, “Maybe when you win I’ll be on time,” the reporter said.

It’s not funny at all. It’s completely unprofessional First you are late, then you are rude and disrespectful. I’d take action if I was the boss. https://t.co/TKvj0Cdjxd — Jay Feely (@jayfeely) September 7, 2022
Personally, I think that Kelly and the media member who made the wisecrack were both in the wrong. Kelly could have been more self-deprecating, but it was very unprofessional to snark back like that. https://t.co/A3jNdpVF63 — John Carvalho (@John_P_Carvalho) September 7, 2022

I didn’t love the guy when he was at ND, but he was at least forgettable. Seeing him in the SEC now, I’ve learned I just don’t like him. Hope the LSU media keeps this up. What an incredible scene. https://t.co/3zYlzarUA7 — Clint Richardson (@Clintau24) September 7, 2022
I really hope that wasn’t a reporter who made that comment. https://t.co/uIoaZOdznp — Mike Wells (@MikeWellsNFL) September 7, 2022

Brian Kelly’s first game at LSU was a special teams disaster. The Tigers lost 24-23 to Florida State on Sunday night after they had two kicks blocked and dropped two points.
The final blocked kick came on a game-tying extra point with no time. The blocked extra point ruined what could have been a drive that went down in LSU history should they had went into OT and won.
