What You Can Expect After Weight Lifting for Six Months

Weight lifting is a form of exercise that takes plenty of time for you to see real results. You can’t expect major changes after just one session. With consistent effort, you can see major changes in your physicality and other aspects of your health.

Increase Muscle Mass

As you might expect, one of the biggest changes you’ll notice is in your muscle mass. While weight lifting, your muscles actually experience small tears as you push them. These tears will repair themselves with new muscle tissue that is actually thicker than the original muscle. As you repeat this process over time, more and more tissue is added.

After six months of consistent weightlifting, your muscle mass should increase and you can expect further growth as you continue. In order to keep up this growth, make sure you steadily increase the intensity of your weight lifting. If you continue to do the same amount of weight, reps, etc. then your body won’t be challenged.

Improve Mental Health

While weightlifting certainly has many physical benefits, it can also impact your mental health. Exercise can improve your body image and help with mental health issues. As you exercise, it helps you to lose weight.

The increased muscle mass and muscle definition in your body will also become more apparent. Seeing these physical changes can help you feel more confident in your body. Additionally, exercise triggers the release of endorphins which are known to improve mood. As you continue to weight lift, you can feel better about yourself and feel happier while doing it.

Improve Flexibility and Mobility

As your body builds muscle, it is also simultaneously improving your flexibility. Your body is pushed to further limits each time you weight lift and this helps you improve the way that your body moves. You can stretch more and even have more control over your movements. For example, strength training is often used as part of physical therapy. As you strengthen muscles around an injury, it allows your body to heal and return to proper movement. With normal weight lifting, you can strengthen multiple parts of your body so you can improve your mobility.

Weight lifting will do a lot for your body over time. It’s important to keep up your weightlifting routine so you can continue to see benefits. Make sure you balance out this training with cardiovascular exercises.
