County Championship: Gloucestershire edge into lead against Middlesex

Gloucestershire Take Lead against Middlesex in County Championship Gloucestershire took a narrow lead against Middlesex as they reached 271-6 on day two of the County Championship match. Miles Hammond once again showed his form with a solid start to the season, scoring 81 runs. On a sunny day at the Bristol County Ground, Gloucestershire won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Miles Hammond and Chris Dent provided a steady start, reaching 50 before the fall of the first wicket. Hammond, who has been in good touch this season, continued his impressive form and reached his half-century. However, Dent was dismissed for 20 runs by Middlesex's Ethan Bamber. James Bracey joined Hammond at the crease and the pair formed a crucial partnership. They took Gloucestershire past the 100-run mark and continued to build the innings. Hammond played with confidence and looked set for a big score. He played some delightful shots and carried his bat throughout the day. His innings included ten boundaries and he looked comfortable against the Middlesex bowlers. Bracey, on the other hand, played a watchful innings and supported Hammond from the other end. The duo frustrated Middlesex's bowlers with their solid defensive technique and excellent shot selection. The partnership finally came to an end when Bracey was trapped lbw by Luke Hollman for 45. Their partnership of 114 runs was crucial in giving Gloucestershire a solid foundation.
